Can you daisy chain wn2000rpt

Just get this and make your life easier Quoted: There are no ethernet outlets in the walls so just plugging it into a port on the wall downstairs is not possible. I use these. Very reasonable, mostly reliable, incredibly simple. You will of course notice throughput reductions, but with proper placement, these things will rock.

Quoted: Just get this and make your life easier This is what you seek. Quoted: Perhaps it's not possible in a world where one sacrifices a goat to Kali and prays for one's ethernet drops. Fortunately we here in this world simply pull wire and install them. Aint but a thing. The goat especially appreciates it. WiFi extenders suck. What you want is a second router that can run in "access point" mode with your main router. But that requires an Ethernet connection between the two. Quoted: Exactly.

That's something that isn't often told to those who want to setup wireless repeaters rather than running an Ethernet cable between the two routers. The better way if possible and the easiest is to run an Ethernet cable from one router's networking port to the networking port NOT wan or internet port on the second router up as a wireless repeater.

Quoted: Quoted: You loose something like half your bandwidth each time you setup a repeater. I have tens of thousands of dollars of network equipment in my house. As stated there are a few ways to do this. This is ideal and offers the most performance 3 Use 2. You'd have to investigate if you want to use 2. If they all do then use 5 Ghz for the clients and 2.

You'd do this with different SSIDs for the clients and the wireless link to your router. You can even use the backhaul connection for clients if you wish. In that wired port you would use another access point for the clients. This is similar to option 1 but doesn't have the performance hit that a repeater does. Think about if you want max performance or if you just want a wireless signal for web browsing.

The power line network products also work very well but I have no experience with them. You could use this in place of a wired connection for another access point.

Me too. Message 2 of 3. Thank you for posting a comment. Maybe you could post a link to an existing issue as I'm struggling to find any that match my problem or answer my question about adding powerline to create the network. Message 3 of 3. Top Contributors. User Count.

See All. So prolly not the iPad to blame. Because of the layout of the house it would be well nigh impossible to connect an extender by cable to router. WiFi Hotspot it is then Peter Edit: Just seen above post: I'll try that:. As long as you are not into amateur radio, I would suggest using these.

Sorry Keef. Does that use the mains wiring to transmit the signal to the wifi plug which then emerges at the wifi plug at distant reception area? Does the 'transmitter' bit have to be hard wired to the router? Can an idiot set it up? If so that looks like the answer to a maiden's prayer. Edit: Just watched the videos: I feel an order coming on: One reservation: the bedroom is in an extension built 20 years ago: presumably there has to be continuity of mains circuits: Will this be achieved via the mains leccy distribution board where we have four separate CB switching boxes supplying the whole house, or will there be some kind of isolation making this method unworkable?

The extension does seem to have its own CB boxes. Don't want to chuck another 50 squids down the pan Last edited by PeteSpencer on Mon Sep 16, , edited 1 time in total. Yes Yes Yes The remote unit also has a couple of wired ethernet connections as well which may be handy. As long as everything is on the same phase it almost certainly will be , you'll be fine. Thanks steve: your fount of knowledge never ceases to amaze me. The reason why I went for a repeater is that the SSID was the same from both the main router and the repeater.

Does the solution above manage to keep the same SSID? By Timothy - Mon Sep 16, I have a Netgear extender at the bottom of the garden and it works flawlessly. There was little or no setup, it just works. And it is fourth in a daisy chain. I have a Virgin router, feeding a Netgear router by Ethernet, feeding a Netgear router by Ethernet feeding the extender wirelessly and it's fine.
