How do i get vial of the sands recipe
Transmute Master - Zarevhi, in Stormspire in Netherstorm. Elixir Master - Lorokeem, in Shattrath City. Transmute Living Elements is also affected by this bonus and depending on where you are can have predictable outcomes, excluding the bonus itself. Goblins this means you too. I have not been able to find any reliable info on that though. Comment by Ajial Got it crafted for the 48kg mats and sold for 80k : Nice profit, it's easy to sell many people with loads of money don't bother to look what the mats actually costs.
Comment by lightgate I'm very confused and would like a clean answer. Would any kind soul shed a light on this for me? Comment by This mount is a very impressive piece of Alchemy.
If you Alchemy specialized players are thinking of creating this mount, heres a very helpfull list and a few tips for ya. Tip 1: You must have max Archaeology to learn this. It is learned randomly during Alchemy work, but the items that have a chance to show you are unknown by me, but are most likely Flasks. Tip 2: Go Transmutation Mastery. Your able to sometimes make more than 1 product from 1 set of mats! Tip 3: This is a list of mats all broke down, so if your going to do this, read the list and then decide on what course of action you would like to take!
Farmable off of Cata fire elementals. Farmable off of Cata air elementals. Farmable off of Cata water elementals.
Farmable off of Cata earth elementals. Obtained from Cata herbs. Farmable off of some Cata plants. Alchemy cannot make or farm this, so you have to buy it from AH. Found in Cata water areas. Mainly farmed in Vashj'ir. Found near Cata rivers and lakes. Mainly farmed in Uldum x Found in all Cata areas besides Vashj'ir.
Purchaced from any Alchemist supplies vendors. Transmute Cooldowns: hours 2. Farming Herbs: 15 hours - Do during CD, and this is deleted 3.
Tip 5: If you skip transmuting and buy the materials yourself, this will go plently faster, but it will cost more. This is where you can ask yourself, would i rather spend the time farming this, or buy all the mats myself. Tip 6: Farm herbs in Tol Barad. This area has every type of herb in a small area that enables you to gather your herbs quickly as opposed to the large terrain of Vashj'ir Tip 7: Before you farm elementals for Volatiles, use a so you have a better chance to get the materials and you can get done faster.
I hope this somewhat lengthy guide has helped you World of Warcraft members! Comment by Mibopo Will this mount be usable in BG? Comment by KingNothing73 I've seen some people say that there are only four Tol'vir dig sites. That is incorrect. Yes, you can only get up to four at a time , but there are eight or nine different Tol'vir sites which can spawn.
According to wowdigs. If you have one Tol'vir site already available, the chance of the new spawn being Tol'vir is If you have two, the chance is Having Tol'vir sites already available to you diminishes your probability of getting another one on a new spawn.
Due to this, it might not be a good idea to try to "load up" on them. If you get one, you should dig it as soon as possible. For instance, when I'm in northern Kalimdor and a Tol'vir site spawns, instead of working my way south and doing sites along the way, I hearth to Stormwind and then take the portal to Uldum.
The probability differences may not seem like a lot, but due to the amount of grinding involved in this endeavor, it could save you a bit of time. Comment by Toxn I just picked this up today and it is pretty sweet. Except the seating is messed up because when someone mounts me giggle they end up sitting inside of me. Plus my name shows up beneath me. Comment by Say hello to the new Mekgineer's Chopper Comment by kronchev Now that it's BOE, you have no reason to ever be an alchemist.
Thanks Blizzard! You took away the one cool thing Alchemy had! Comment by Crimsonlord I saw a horde with this one. I yelled: "I'm gunna punch that dragon in the face!
Comment by I made this today and its very buggy atm, your name is showed on your feet and passanger will be carried on the feets too. Comment by What about mages and preists?
And remember. Comment by Simayi Some observations on the Vial of the Sands and the Sandstone Drake: - If someone uses a Potion of Illusion next to someone transformed into a Sandstone Drake, they will themselves turn into a Sandstone Drake that cannot fly! For added hilarity, the imbiber of the Potion of Illusion can then 'mount' the other Drake if they're in the same party for some.
Try taking your worst enemy or best friend for a flight high above, then tell them you have to go afk for a bit and see what choice they make! Comment by Post on wow forums about not breaking shapeshift when transformed form Comment by Ok, I got mine today and its a little buggy to say the least!
I dont think this is intended as it looks wierd and there is a saddle. Well will have to wait and see! Grubby - Silvermoon EU. Comment by Lidmo Costs 15g to deposit this for 48 hours in the AH. If the ss doesn't get through, there's always this link. Comment by Deathturtle Got the recipe on Sunday, finished assembling the mats on Monday. Monday I made 4 mounts for people charging 3K gold with their mats. The lack of a CD is very nice. I also put one up at auction for 55K, which I eventually took down and sold for 49K.
I estimate my day one profit at 21k, maybe a bit less as I spent a bit of money for Truegold CD's and volatiles are still quite pricey.
I am currently assembling mats for 2 Vials now with the likely intent of keeping one for myself. I should have the next Vial complete tonight to go up on Auction again.
Although this was an extremely annoying grind to get the recipe, it appears to be paying dividends. At this point I know of only one other person on my server with the recipe, and that person does not appear to be marketing much or advertising much. I have talked to seeral achemists still trying for this and a few have mentioned they may just give up and get me to make them the mount. For me I had to craft the base 7 commons, a fragment rare and an additional 10 commons to get the recipe, fragments with only perhaps 4 Hieroglyphs I had very poor luck with those.
One poor fellow on my server has made 5 jars with no recipe. Comment by gobgobbutt I got the Vial of Sands recipe the other day after my third canopic jar. Took five days of 12 hours a day grinding. Over fragments and it's the only time getting 2 rares would annoy someone. Worth it in every way. I just made my mount and found a few things out. At the moment you dont site on top, but rather you sit midair at the claws. The recipe grind and mats are not for the faint of heart.
Please give some respect to those who did the grind for this. Going for a 5k tip on both of my servers and it's not comparable to the chopper because the grind for this is much worse than a grind to exalted.
Comment by I just got this recipe 4 days ago out of my first canopic jar. I was elated. Now im only 5 trugold transmutes from the mount. From what ive heard I am at this point the only person on my server to obtain the recipe.
Since it is listed under mounts, im going to say no, but man, that would be legen Comment by Slisher If you have this awesome set of pixels, enter the Gnome Machine during Winter Veil when in drake form for laughs. Comment by A friend of me told me that Tol'vir Fragments, the mount can drop whitout the Recipe is that correct? Comment by step 1: have someone mount you. Comment by Skornaq Having recently obtained this mount, I figured I would share my experience with the people who, like me, are usually happy to see more than g.
Consider it a beginners guide and a tale of my experience as well. I hope it helps. To start off, for you who never see more than a few thousand gold at a time, this is not impossible! Truegold will be a major money sink. Take up mining. Elementium on my server, Argent Dawn EU goes for g a stack, and whilst I cannot speak for the economies of other servers, the nodes have a good chance of yielding the Volatile Elements which sell just as well and will be useful later..
I used this route. With that route I was able to procure about 30 stacks in a 4 hour farming session. I recommend music and or, pizza. When you mine, you will come across the Volatile elements of water, fire or earth, which you will want to amass in large quantities. Every 30 or so stacks I would drop them on the AH, and they would be sold by morning. Another reason I say take mining is the chance of Volatile Elements and Pyrite. These are key ingredients in Transmuting Truegold, and by doing so, you can save yourself g per bar of Truegold, assuming people sell their Cooldowns for fair prices.
Volatile air is obtainable from some sort of, engineering doo-dad that helps gather air from mining and skinning, or you could buy it from the AH, I would guess for roughly 30g per 1, Again, using my servers economy. However for those of you who have plenty of time or are tanks, queue for Vortex Pinnacle, it can yield 10 Volatiles a time if youre lucky.
If you can, do it with friends, and ask them to pass the Airs over to you. Clear up to Altarius and reset, because after that, the mobs wont drop the air. As you slowly create your truegold bars and sell your elementium, you will, hopefully, see your wealth increasing, if only marginally at first. I say this, get your Truegold out the way, you will need 12 bars. After the Truegold, maybe use some of your wealth to get the Flasks.
Flask of the Winds are about g per, on my server, and you will need 8. Flask of Titanic Strength are about g per, again, you need 8. Stoneskin Oil. Whilst assembling these, make sure you keep dedicated to your route of mining! Yes, other people may be there, but the nodes will respawn, and youre guaranteed something, I know, I play the most populated EU server. Now its the final 29k push, and if you have been mining like you should, you should have a little left over.
I had enough to buy the Pyrium Laced Crystaline Vial, thats 5k off the total. All in all, it took me a week of 5 hour farming sessions and selling Volatiles on the trade channel to get this mount. Offer a generous tip to the craftsman, I paid 1k and fly away. Worth every second. I did not make this comment to gloat, and some of you will have better, more buisness like ways of making gold.
So you pull in g an hour, I made this comment for the people who do not have such skill and may want a push in the right direction. If you have any more questions, feel free to drop by Argent Dawn EU and ask me. Tyrolen - Human Paladin. Hope this helps, and gets you on the way to carrying people on your back Edit- They took away my map, so I will simplify it as flying around the northern edge, down the western mountains, cutting over to the first cliffs you come across, flying over the vally with the diseased birds, and coming back up to the north-eastern most corner of the northern mountain range.
Edit 2 - I realise the prices are slightly exagerated, what with Cata now common place and the materials now being sold at a much more reasonable price, including the ore, but I would still stick to this method if only for the money and the volatiles you can mine. Comment by Anyone else think the recipe is a wee bit ridiculous drop?
I mean first you have to have Tol'vir sites spawn, which only spawn in Uldum. Then you have to have the jar come up to build it and then you might actually have the chance of finding this recipe. Kinda reminds me of an old episode of Futurama where Fry's nephew finds oil in the basement of the mansion he won in the lottery. One of these on AH for k gold Comment by dubs Haven't seen this answered anywhere Does this have a normal mount cast time or is it an instant transformation?
Perhaps we are just super lucky though who knows. Comment by The recipe is from Canopic Jar the pattern is BoP and you get the flasks from alchemy, truegold can be obtain from Alchemy as well with the transmution CD. Making the raw mats gold. It is BoE so anyone can have it. I'm not sure if you drink it and get a dragon form, or you have use the vial constantly to mount. I do know its 1. Once in dragon form you can allow people to jump on you and act as a passenger.
You can not kick off the passenger but you can have some fun by un-mounting and slowfalling down or using birdform and watch as your passenger dies xD Hope this helps!
Comment by Just to clear up any misconceptions, this mount is not an instant cast. I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but I just made one today. Also, it is bugged just like the other dragon mounts: your passenger is 'sitting' under your neck. And an edit: If you fly up high and 'shapeshift,' you will fall to your death - but your passenger will get a nifty little parachute.
Also, if you try to strand a low-level friend on top of something and they don't have a way to fly, they will get a parachute as they jump off, as well. Also, I confirmed that your passenger can be any level. Comment by Saphris It took me about 2 weeks to farm the gold and materials for this mount, i sold it in the AH for 90k and bought the materials over again so i could make my friend one too. The drake currently has the same glitch as all the other stone drakes you appear below the claws and floating but only to the person riding you.
Also -a dissapointment- Taurens turn into the same size drake that everyone else turns into, its not bigger like most mounts taurens use. Comment by Hi all, Got this today and I can tell you the following. I think thats it really, anymore questions and I will answer them. Comment by Supercool Reportedly, if you fly into Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon Valley while shapeshifted you'll get a "Can't mount while shapeshifted" error message, and be transformed into a Shadowmoon orc swimming through the air at mounted speed.
Have yet to determine what would happen if you had a passenger at the time. Comment by zadck Someone made a joke somewhere in this thread or a related one about the Iron Boot Flask. You can indeed use it while mounted, and this mount is no exeption. About 7 mins ago, I was flying around as a dwarf. I will try to post a screen shot. You have to mount THEN drink the flask. I almost died laughing. Comment by nensec One thing i want to know, can you use this in places where you cannot use flying mounts but can use ground mounts.
Comment by Kelthlor I got this mount earlyer and i can conferm that there is a easy way to strand people without flying on high places, you simply fly about 5 feet above that place and dismount, they lose the para when they land and you and fly off on a diff mount. Funny when people start calling hacks on your bad flying self. Comment by Playing with this and Potion of Illusion is fun.
With it you can both cast and fight as a dragon. No emotes, though. Comment by Aisenfaire When a player is "mounted" on you the Sandstone Drake, he doesn't actually appear on your back. Instead, you appear to be carrying him in your claws. Comment by Ouroro this should be a BOA pattern. Cause no one should have to level Arch twice.
Comment by Caldnar If you are in drake form, when you pass through the areas in shadowmoon valley that would normally turn you into a Fel orc on a Netherdrake, you will turn into a flying orc. Super Orc! Up, up and awaayyyy Comment by Verrk 1. Comment by I'm wondering, is it possible to kick people of the mount? I tried with a low level 68 , I was in group with him, but then I kicked him and he was aswell kicked off the mount.
I recently tryed it again, on a high-level 85 and this method did not work. Anyone got any better suggestion? Read the tooltip. Comment by Using Orb of the Sin'dorai in dragon form transforms you into a flying, mountable blood elf :. Comment by well not all of us youngsters skip the quests, theres something about doing it that brings a tad bit of pride. Comment by Can you carry a passenger while not flying?
Say, in battlegrounds? Comment by zadck Very good question Wetfish. Long answer: Not even sure anyone said it. Obviously, there are far fewer of these now in Cata, but some include Once again, from my experiences arena, Blood elf starting areas, and battlegrounds. Whats interesting is that the Recruit a friend rocket which I have , IS usable in no fly zones.
This leads me to believe that the Sandstone Drake is strictly considered a flying mount. This may or may not be working as intended, but im thinking it is not working as intended. Short answer: No. Comment by moonshoter I make this Mount and sell it for 53 k, I make about 15 k profit when I make it on my shammy and it sells allmost right way.
I can make more but i end paying for truegold CDs. I May just start holding out and make even more and farm everything. I know a few players that let me use there truegold cd no charge everyday and even give me anything over what they make, them being xmute spec. Comment by Hailscorn If you combine this mount with a Murloc Costume you get: With passenger seat ofc.
I also experienced a strange bug when playing around on this mount with my friend. I'm not sure what i did, but it ended up with my friend sitting on my raptors head If any 1 understands why this happened, please inform us! Comment by Cantona I was under the impression that the actual vial was either BoP, or required alchemy , so that only alchemists could obtain this mount.
Now it appears that anyone with enough gold and an alchemist friend can get it. Was it always like this or did Blizzard change it so that anyone could get this mount?
Does anyone know if this mount does the same? For the amount of awesome packed into it, not to mention the amount of gold and other materials it takes to craft it, I say that it certainly should. Comment by sixsigma9 I read through some comments but couldn't find an answer to a probably really silly question which is maybe why no one has asked , here goes: Is there any chance that this item can at all possibly proc' another one when created?
I ask because I'm currently an elixir master, but I don't really sell my stuff. I became Elix. I might have to sell my wares and herbs now to be able to buy the mats in preparation to someday get this, but for now I'm really casual and am not the farm type That being said, it wouldn't really kill me to switch from elixir to transmutes, in other words - and assuming so many will just want to buy this thing, who knows maybe an extra will proc for me : IF it actually does proc.
Thanks for your time. Comment by don If you are a transmute specialist can you proc more then 1? Comment by in soviet russia, mounts use you! Comment by my concern is whether or not the potion u make is a 1 time use potion or if its like a endless Mana potion where u make it once n use it as often as u like?
Comment by zunit3z Got this today - cost me roughly 40k or so in mats - plus 5k gold tip. Given how ridiculously difficult this was to get, couldn't we at least get a meager 10pt achievement for it?
Also, in guild achievements it shows when someone gets or makes an epic item, such as looting a purple from a heroic, however my obtaining my vial of the sands and being able to turn myself into a dragon woohoo! I'm hoping there was a bug and we really are supposed to get an achievement. Does anyone know what the status of this is? Comment by I was wondering if you could trade the vial itself.
It doesn't say its BoP so I guess you could actually sell it to other players. Comment by Just got the recipe so I am unsure as to how much it goes for now. I did see one in AH for 45 k for like a week, then the person dropped it to 44k but I don't think that sold either.
I tried charging 3k for making it but 2 people never responded after asking me and one person said that he was being charged by another person although he did say it was his friend. So I am wondering, is 3k overpriced? Comment by Mellro lol somebody could use this then passenger gets on saddle and says "hey guys look at my new mount! Comment by Fugitivelama I created one of these to see if it would sell at k. I made it late on a friday night and while I had some interest I did not sell it till early on sunday morning for 50k.
I then made another and it sold within 45minutes of the first one. I then made another drake which sold that evening. I made a 4th drake which sold again within 45mintues of the last one actually had a buyer before I had all the mats.
All 4 sold for 50k each. I now posses a 5th drake for sale. When they stop selling it will be mine , but not untill! I seriously rocked the economy on my server yesterday. With the 4 drakes I sold and 5th made I removed almost k from the server forever vendor mats. I single handedly drove the price of Truegold from g upto g by the days end. I profited around 15k per drake sold. I love this mount! As an iron dwarf you swim through the air and as a blood elf you actually run through the air with long strides, like you have when you run at the ocean floor in Vashj'ir.
Your passenger, if you have one, ends up on your arm. Comment by c0h3n I have created a thread on the forums to collect the drop rate of Recipe: Vial of the Sands from Canopic Jar for alchemists.
Alchemists interested in contributing data can visit it here. The recipe for this mount is received through max-level [Archeology] sites, inside an item called a [ Canopic Jar ]. The recipe only appears for Grand Master or better alchemists Alchemy level or greater.
Despite selling for a lot on the Auction House , awarding an achievement and helping others, see Mountain O' Mounts achievement , and being the only craftable flying 2-person mount, this item remains uncommon due to the large resource cost and the cost-reward ratio.
This elixir is made by Alchemists with a skill level of Post away! Log in , it's free! An alternative version of this wiki is now operational and ready for use. WoWWiki Explore. Comment by Got my first Canopic Jar today and got the recipe: Maybe my luck is turning around. Had found 11 jars before the proffession change. It was one of the reasons for changing, just hurt with the number of jars i found without being able to get a rare recipe.
RNG is smiling on me, found Zin'rohk yesterday. Though having no use for it, being a rogue. Thought I'd offer what I learned. It took me about 14 hours to go from arch 1 to , about 2 hours to max out. Solved items, got the recipe in 4th canopic jar.
Goblin discount definitely gone for Yasmin's mats. Took almost 40 hours from when I started getting tol'vir items to getting the recipe.
Some said that it was good to go immediately to Uldum sites, while others liked to clear out the rest, to me, once I was done leveling the skill, the only ones I did were those close to Uldum and only hearthed northward when none were popping up. Those I left, in my mind, blocked them and made Tol'vir more likely. It is possible to get the tol'vir heiroglyphs and pass them from one character to another. They are not soul bound. They do sell on my server but not for anything I'd spend.
I have one left, tempted to try. Don't know how many exactly there are. But the resultant void was filled with both Tol'vir and fossil, since all fossil Items I wanted were already solved, that was still kind of annoying. I almost didn't even try this, considering the negative comments, and while it was a grind, and felt like doing handsprings once I got the recipe and didn't have to use that pick axe any more, I think, if you want this mount, don't let what others say discourage you.
Comment by achieva15 i am wondering how much this recipe is selling for at the auction houses? Comment by achieva15 i tried to get this recipe using my hunter with maxed out enchanting and skinning professions not realizing that only alchemy can get it bop. I bought my Vial of the Sands for 38K, and the thought of making some of that back is enough to keep me going. Comment by 22x Canopic Jars and no recipe :. I got alchemy max skill What i did wrong? Comment by Reboot Do not give up on this.
I consider myself very fortunate on this one. Got the recipe on my 1st jar! So it is there and it will drop. Have to add also just in case. You must be an Alchemist to get the recipe. Good luck to all. Comment by Even though it's time consuming, I think it is worth the while looking for this recipe, especially since the vial itself in my realm costs around 85k on AH. Dunno bout y'all but I find that way overpriced considering what you get. Am not really looking for it to get the dragon.
I looked for about 2 weeks and have collected about 10 or 11 Canopic Jar Comment by lilfern Is it worth it? How Long does the Recipe last once made? That is what has me going HMMM. Comment by Ialn Got this recipe after 7 Canopic Jars pic, speedyshare.
Comment by Elorivan Worth the grind? Yes Does it feel worth it while grinding? Comment by Ravithor on my 3rd jar that I saw when I was Lving my Archaeology talk about lucky days I cant wait to get all the mats together.
Comment by hesperiarogue I got mine today! It took about 2 months and it was my 2nd jar made. Please let me know, cuz I don't wanna seem like a jerk. Thank you. Comment by srebabygirl It is true in order to get this recipe you must have archaeology in order to get the digsite in Uldum. Thankfully for me I got the recipe on my first canopic jar which was my 2nd artifact in Uldum with an archaeology level of I did archaeology off and on for 3 weeks to get my archaeology up til I got the jar and recipe.
I will tell you farming and getting the mats is worse than leveling your archaeology, if you plan to make everything yourself. If exaulted in Uldum you can get the sands of time for 2. Good luck fellow alchemists, it sure is a journey for this mount. So I'd like to share some information I gathered during this quest to acquire the recipe.
I contacted a GM about it to know if I had to have alchemy or what not. Me: Hi, I'm wondering if Vial of Sands recipe drops if you don't have alchemy? Also if it doesn't would lvl 1 alchemy be sufficient?
Greetings Drottendauwg, first of all, apologies for the long wait - the last patch is still keeping us fairly busy. You do need to have Alchemy in order to get the recipe to drop at all. The question of minium level, however, is something we do not disclose as the community hast to figure precise drop mechanics our for itself.
Generally it is true though that one does not need a maxed Alchemy skill in order to obtain the recipe but there is a minimum. In the end you need skill to use the recipe anyways so bringing Alchemy up before opening the Canopic Jars can't hurt. Comment by Calydor Well, my mother got this today.
On her very first Tol'Vir project. Obviously there's no minimum level to get it other than being able to get Tol'Vir dig sites. Now if you'll excuse me, my DK who leveled from 80 to 85 exclusively on archaeology XP still needs to farm his.
Comment by reggiejames i finally acquired this recipe after completing: 9 cat statue with emerald eyes 12 soap stone 13 engraved scimitar 13 castle of sand 16 tiny oasis mosaic 12 canopic jar 11 sketch of a desert palace.
Comment by MomBun After much hair-pulling, whining, computer kicking, and a temper tantrum or two , I finally got the recipe and squealed so loudly, my husband's ears are still ringing according to HIM, anyways. It was a lot of work, and pretty time consuming with the flying everywhere.
Fortunately, I was home sick for awhile and had some time on my hands. I found the recipe in my 5th canopic jar. The other Tol'vir artifacts completed include: 1 ring of the boy emperor rare 1 pendant of scarab storm rare 4 tiny mosaic 1 castle of sand 6 engraved scimitar hilt 11 soapstone Scarborough necklace 6 cat statue with emerald eyes 3 sketch of a desert palace.
Absolutely worth it. And passengers can jump off you in mid flight and parachute in places! Awesome mount, way too much fun. And now Mommy can fly the kids around to help them level. For a fee, of course. Chuffed to bits : It was my first Tol'vir artifact also! Comment by i have heard of so many people trying soooooo many times with the canopic jar i got my 1st just got some organs, 2nd more organs.
I got another and opened it and inside i found the Recipe:Vial of Sands. Comment by Dedmeett I just made a Wowhead account just to say: After hundreds of commons lost count after and 21 Canoptic jars I still don't have the recipe. This game hates me.
I finally got this on my 23rd jar. I had enough materials saved to make another for myself, after I sold the first one, yay me! Comment by Abhorsen19 26th jar and 61k gold spent on Tol'vir Hieroglyphic and still no recipe. I am getting tired of traveling.
Thank god for Moonmeander's Hon streaming to keep me entertained. Thank god no more grinding. Comment by got the recipe in my 7th Canopic Jar. It was my 30th Tol'Vir solve. Incidentally I had 3 Tol'vir rares scarab pendant, scimitar of sirocco, ring of boy emperor within my first 15 tol'vir solves.
Comment by Mormolyce Why oh why did the Night Elves have to have such an extensive civilisation? Comment by By 9teen9tee — 1 1 second ago Patch 4. This is it! Comment by For those who are creating characters specifically to get this recipe-- god bless you-- I have a few pointers.
Note that I still haven't gotten it on my Alchemist, so take this with the usual grain of Internet salt. First, obviously, you need Archaeology. The Uldum digsites won't even show until then. Second, you have to have Alchemy; the recipe won't show unless you have it. Some people say that you don't need max skill in that profession, but why take chances?
Besides, those Potions of Treasure Finding help make grinding Volatiles more rewarding. A Dwarf may be your best bet. Although I haven't noticed any real statistical superiority wait till I have keystones on each of my Archaeologists , they're said to find things like Tol'vir Heiroglyphics more frequently.
I like Druids for exploring digsites, because their Swift Flight Form is instantaneous and can be cast while moving; getting from place to place inside a digsite is more tedious if you have to spring a Gryphon or run every time.
Alas, Dwarves can't be Druids at the moment. Mage would be the next best bet, because of their teleportation ability-- it cuts down greatly on travel time. Four sites will spwan on each continent; when you exhaust one, another will spring up. Therefore you can pimp the Uldum sites by diggin in the rest of Kalimdor. Some people have asked whether it's best to jump on the Uldum sites when they pop up, or wait till you have two or three; I'd say the former.
Sites will not spawn on top of ones that already exist-- there will always be four unique locations, barring errors-- so having three non-Uldum digsites filled means three non-Uldum sites that won't be selected for the replacement. It's a very small percentage benefit, but every point counts. I'm off to farm digsites.
Comment by Nightshine This just proced for me on my 11th canopic jar. It was my 65th Tol'vir solve. I bought the drake last year. Weeks ago the mount, ultramarine qiraji battle tank proced for me. I had the pendant and the ring in that order already last year, then the mount and now the recipe, all in 65 Tol'vir solves. Polishes fingernails on lapels and smiles. Now for the hand pet. Steps into phone booth to change clothes. Comment by got the recipe Recipe: Vial of the Sands after 5 Canopic Jar s Had alchemy goblin , decided to level up archeology for this recipe and farmed Kalilmdor digsites exclusively.
Took Tol'vir digsites spawn as soon as they we're available. I consider myself lucky. Good luck farming! Comment by Anna82 Just got my recipe today I was up to my elbows in mummified organs.. I had to open about 6 or 7 canopic jars before I got it. I had a in alchemy so I still have to get before it will let me learn it. Interestingly enough, the lucky Canopic Jar that contained the recipe was for me in a location directly beside of Harrison Jones.
Comment by Pyratewench Power leveled Alchemy last night Arch was already I had 3 Uldum digsites I had already saved up-didn't want to bother till I had the Alchemy skill. First project was a junk worth 10g. Comment by After all the researce i did on the recipe i was pretty sceptic about starting to farm for this. Thinking it was going to take weeks. My first jar dropped after the fifth artifact and guess what!
It contained the recipe: Vial of the Sands. Never been this lucky before :D. Comment by rjwilson01 Well for my two cents - If you are going to look for this - Remember to do your transmute truegold -your going to need 10 - with a day cool down. I'm actually doing the two day one of first transmute create the Pyrite then transmute that into the Truegold - which share a cool down. Comment by Kemaria The little hunter scooped away the gritty sand with her fingers, carefully exposing the jagged shards of broken pottery.
Overhead, the blazing sun beat down, baking her armor and making the air shimmer. Her spirit beast pet prowled at her side, whining in irritation at having to endure the searing desert heat and the sand which always got stuck in his paws. For him, there was no killing, no excitement.
Just his little hunter endlessly surveying the landscape all around Azeroth and digging up pieces of silly old objects and painstakingly piecing them together. He wondered why she bothered, then yawned sleepily, dismissing her puzzling behavior from his mind as he idly watched a scorpion scuttling by. Not for the first time, she wondered what catastrophic or mystical forces had acted upon the artifacts of the past.
She set the final piece of the jar in its place, and it suddenly became whole in her hands, an ancient magic she did not understand. She shook it lightly, and inside something rattled. That was nothing new. Each of the six previous canopic jars had contained mummified organs, some relic of civilization past. While each jar was clearly empty during the assembly process, when it became whole, somehow those mummified remains appeared. But not just mummified remains.
The little hunter had learned that sometimes, if one was very favored and very fortunate, the jar might also contain a rare and ancient parchment. A recipe for alchemists such as herself, teaching her how to transform herself into a dragon strong enough to carry a friend, and how to provide this ability to others.
Long had the little hunter searched for canopic jars, and each had proved empty of anything except those dry and smelly organs. She never gave up hope, though, despite the unfathomable magic of archaeology forcing her to dig repeatedly for the artifacts of other races - especially Night Elf artifacts. Yet she persevered, sure that somehow, some day, the gods of Azeroth would favor her. Now, she ran her fingers lightly over the jar, and sighed.
Some of her guildmates were near, and she told them that she would once again be bitterly disappointed by the contents of the jar, empty of all but the detestable organs that she was sure were there solely to mock her. Her hopes nearly extinguished, the little hunter opened the jar, and emptied its contents out onto the hot sands. Down plopped a mummified organ, its disagreeable mustiness permeating the air, but the little hunter paid it no mind as she watched a piece of dirty, cracking parchment drift gently to the ground.
The jar fell from her nerveless fingers as she stared at the paper, unable to breathe. She could hardly pick it up as her hands shook from excitement, the frail paper rattling as she hastily scanned the spidery writing and faded diagrams. It was the recipe for the Vial of the Sands! It was hers at last! She learned it, feeling the ancient knowledge suffusing her like a warm golden glow. Oblivious to the searing heat and her cranky pet, the little hunter did a dance of delight in the sands, shrieking aloud her happiness and shattering the midafternoon silence.
Her pet cast a bored and slightly inquiring eye on her as she capered deliriously about, and she hugged him. No more digging! No more dusty armor! No more Night Elf digsites! No more sore muscles, long flights, and dirty fingernails! I found the recipe for Vial of the Sands! Just you and me, the open road, and whatever adventures befall us!
Comment by my experience Comment by Songoo Dropped it by the second time. Comment by At this late stage of Cataclysm I had the choice of all this farming, random drops and expensive mats vs. Since farming money is very easy for many now, I'd consider that instead of flying around the desert. Three evenings in GDKP runs did it for me.
Comment by starsofdestiny Found it today in my 5th jar. After reading the comments here I was prepared to find it in the 20th or more. That was one of the most frustrating moments that I witnessed in wow until today, the major problem is not the long time that takes to drop the recipe from canopic jar, it is the long time Uldum's digsites respawns and the canopic jar My advise for those who are tired: thinks always positive, say to yourself that it's only 6 time that you will have to farm epic fragments and after that will be easier to get the jar each epic only comes once and if you have time to play make a goal as I did on doing a cap of 1 jar per day.
BTW while I was looking for the recipe I got the mount, the ring and the pendant. Good luck. Comment by matts I already had alchemy maxed out when I began the grind for Vial of the Sands.
From level 1 archeology it took me: 17 canopic jars 18 rare artifacts including 2 tol'vir common artifacts including 75 tol'vir. Comment by MartinKjeldsen Okay so how much will it cost in total to make. Comment by MartinKjeldsen Hey im just wondering.. Comment by So, I finally got it late Friday night, this was the only reason I picked up archaeology.
Started digging in Uldum at 82, which was a pain. It was in my fifth Canopic Jar. Some other info: I had all the rare Night Elf solved, and all but one fossil. But still, I would keep digging until I got four dig sites in Uldum. Even then, I would get a Tol'vir site pop right back up. All good stories must come to an end however Upon learning the recipe, I'm seeing it being sold on the AH for a little over the cost of mats : Oh well, at least I earned mine the hard way.
Comment by Celestri I just got super lucky. I grinded my alchemist's archaeology, did a few Tol'vir projects, and then got the stupid scarab pendant thing that required tokens. Flew around kalimdor, got the sites, and solved it I closed my eyes and right clicked the jar For those of you who are discouraged, and have people telling you "lol good luck with that", keep going, and with some luck you'll get your recipe. I'm still in shock that I got it from my first jar. Comment by Avalionis trying to add this to the Rarity mod Comment by Night elf warrior.
I've been working on this recipe since January, No luck on the first 3 Jars They both got recipe on first jar. So i ask my buddy when his dropped what he was doing different than i was. He said he filled the fragment counter almost to full and then he would do multiple projects in a few seconds I would grind archeology on a full day many times but with no luck. I kept completing the projects as soon as i had enough fragments for any project. I tried to fill up the fragment bars to full, got two rare projects, one click and the rare is gone and the next project is up, and i get two canoptic jar at the same time I hope this helps, i was very discouraged every special project i would get, my friends way is better i think I did grind archeology today for 10 hours in a row, but the recipe is worth the trouble.
I dont do it everyday, it's supposed to be fun, i dont think the game feels like a job to me. Good luck to all of you who want to try this. But no, I have to keep chugging along on my Alchemy alt almost hoping I don't discover those things because I'm going to have to re-farm them again on my main anyway.
And on my main I keep getting Canopic Jars and boy does it burn when you see those. Comment by Warning this is the ugliest grind in the game that I have found my toon is up to 36 days at lvl 85 out of that hours played most has been spent looking for artifacts so far NO Success.
Have made 28 rare common out of which only 35 where canopic jar's been maxed on Archeology and Alchemy over 1 year 1st canopic jar was over a year ago. My first jar was a bust, but after solving a rare artifact, I lucked out and got two Canopic Jars back-to-back. I solved both of them before opening one I wanted to see if it was possible to carry more than one jar in your inventory - it is. After spending the last 12 months camping for Aeonaxx, I couldn't believe I got this so quickly.
Maybe Blizzard figured I'd been punished enough. I'm sure luck had something to do with it, but I also tried to keep my fragments maxxed out. I only solved when I had to to make room for more fragments. I also did digs in other areas until I had all four dig sites in Uldum. Then I'd go there and knock them all out at once. These are just bits of advice I picked up here and in the Blizzard forums. So yeah, last Tuesday, my Archaeology was only at , and less than a week later I have the recipe.
Good luck to everyone else still trying to get it! Comment by Nightengale Like some people have said, getting this recipe is without a doubt the most annoying thing I've ever attempted and have yet to claim as my own.
I got realm first alchemist, meaning I was hours after cata launch, and my goal was this thing, after learning it came from archeology, I dove right into that. I'm attempting to get all the alchemy recipes in the game, and the ONLY one I'm missing, is this one. I'd pay some good gold for this recipe if it became BoE. Comment by Seidoxu Is this goin accountbound?
Comment by Every time I open one of them jars I have a mini panic attack, and end up in tears. It's the worst grind in history. I'm starting to wonder if I will quit the game over not finding it. Scenario: I was leveling Archaeology when - around the early level - I got a dig in Uldum. I went out there - performed a dig and got got enough fragments to "solve. It may have been the second solve, since I had a couple of digs in Uldum. I was a bit confused - whether you had to be Archaeology so the pattern would show up.
So I did not open the Jar. Of course, once you hit the or Archaeology level - every solve no longer gives you 5 points. Now it is 1 point. So I was getting desperate - and thought of opening the Jar. But I restrained myself. Buying when you see good prices is extremely key to keep up your profits. Maximizing your profit is primarily about sourcing materials cheaply and keeping your mounts on the Auction House.
Another great tip to maximizing your profit is to have several alchemists that can transmute Pyrium bars. On my server this transmute is worth about gold per, and this increases my profit per Vial by about gold, which is a lot. I am currently running three alchemists with daily Pyrium transmutes.
Remember that the Vendor Materials are only sold in Uldum. For posting operations in TSM its pretty straightforward.
I strongly suggest canceling and reposting often. Doing this a couple of times throughout the day on the Armory app will usually yield faster sales. I wont necessarily recommend farming the recipe, as it is horrendously time consuming, but the end results are pretty fantastic if you do.
If i had been posting more aggresively, my profits would probably be even higher I have prioritised enchanting and Jewelcrafting lately. You should be able to make a copy. Just click file and there should be an option to make a copy in your drive.
