Which kerrigan abilities
Players can only choose one ability from each tier at a time. Using the information in the previous section, there are a few builds that work well in Starcraft 2 Heart of the Swarm. First off, I consider the following abilities strong enough that you will use them under practically any circumstances.
The rationale behind these decisions is explained in the above section. Tier 4 : Mend though Spawn Banelings may be a better choice in the "Conviction" mission. The tiers where there are two viable options are Tier 2 and Tier 6. This is likely the best build for most players. Kerrigan's auto-attack damage practically doubles from using Fury and Chain Reaction. Kerrigan is a bit more vulnerable with this build, but she is also more destructive with just her auto-attack ability.
This means that Kerrigan does more damage and requires less of your attention, which is great for players who are not skilled enough to macro without shifting their focus to the main base. You may need to pull back for 1 minute every 6 minutes while you wait for the Leviathan to come off cooldown.
You also need to take more care to protect the Leviathan. Use Kerrigan to focus down enemies that are doing heavy damage to the Leviathan, particularly using Kinetic Blast on any Vikings you might see. This build also works well for any situation where you are fighting against a tight timer for a Hard Mode Mastery achievement. This version of Kerrigan requires more micro, deals less damage, but is much more survivable.
Between Crushing Grip and the Leviathan's Bio-Stasis ability, even the most condensed packs of units do not stand a chance. This build does however require more attention to use successfully, as you need to be Mending and Kinetic Blasting more frequently, as well as casting Crushing Grip.
Played perfectly, this is likely the strongest Kerrigan build for Brutal mode. It is much more defensive in nature than the Fury and Chain Reaction combo. You can survive any sort of attack with the Crushing Grip and Ability Efficiency combination, but only if you control it very well. This is an incredible ability, and one you practically always want to use.
It can be used to 1-shot a variety of buildings and units and is essential for soloing with Kerrigan. Not worth it, particularly once you unlock Mend. Leaping Strike - Costs 50 energy, no cooldown.
Kerrigan leaps to her target and deals damage. The decrease in range significantly reduces Kerrigan's ability to solo, as it puts her in a much more dangerous position.
No Kinetic Blast makes it harder to pick apart buildings as well. Stuns all enemies in the target area for 3 seconds and deals 30 damage over time. If you have the energy for it, it works well. Not a bad choice, particularly for use against large clumps of Infantry. Stronger in earlier missions. Chain Reaction - Kerrigan's attacks jump to up to 4 nearby targets and cause 10 damage per bounce. You have to micro Kerrigan to get the most out of this skill, but it does add a substantial amount of DPS, particularly if you use the "Fury" skill in Tier 6.

Zerglings will not respawn if maximum supply has been reached. Zerglings that are morphed into banelings will not respawn. Extractors mine vespene gas automatically without drones.
Zergling Reconstitution is dependent on player style, namely the proliferation of zerglings in an army. Automated Extractors are useful for maps where the player is heavily vespene-dependent, as the player can mine geysers without needing a nearby hatchery.
Improved Overlords is useful for maps where the player is reliant on speed, allowing the player to grow their army much more quickly with the ability to rapidly increase supply. Does not affect heroic units. Creates six banelings with timed life at target area.
Banelings last 90 seconds and have all mutations and upgrades applicable to normal banelings. Kerrigan instantly heals self for HP and nearby friendly biological units for 50 HP. Wild Mutation has minimal applications on maps where Kerrigan is forced to solo, but can be very powerful on maps where the player has an army. Mutalisks particularly can be stacked so they all received the boost, then make a quick surgical strike before it wears off.
Spawn Banelings is an excellent scouting and harassment ability; from the instant a mission starts spawn them, Attack Move , and keep doing this every chance you get. You'll gain valuable intelligence on enemy positions and they will do damage to enemy encampments no matter how they've been upgraded, making it significantly easier on your forces when you launch a main attack. The spawned banelings also benefit from standard ground troop armor and melee weapon upgrades, the latter of which quite heavily upgrades the damage that this ability can do.
Mend is outperformed by Spawn Banelings with the Regenerative Acid and Ability Efficiency upgrade ; both by being able to grant more healing per use to your forces and still be useful offensively to attack enemy forces.
However, Mend is still useful for giving Kerrigan and any surrounding allies an instant and sizeable heal in the midst of combat. Mend also benefits from having a lower energy cost and cooldown.
Drones hatch two from an egg at no additional resource cost. Drones require less supply. Creep tumors spread creep twice as fast and 3 units further. Extractors and automated extractors return 5 vespene gas a trip instead of 4. Twin Drones is very useful in most missions, rapidly increasing the player's economical strength early. Malignant Creep is useful if the player is spreading creep rapidly, particularly in missions where creep spread may be needed for some purpose, and on missions where more defensive gameplay is needed.
Vespene Efficiency is best used if the player anticipates a high reliance on vespene for a mission. Units damaged by Kerrigan spawn two broodlings if killed within 1.
